About Us
One of the worse feelings in life is when a loved one tells you that they have lung cancer. One of many thoughts are that they are dying, and the other thought is how can I live without them. Trae D. Johnson; Founder of Serving Tray, Inc. personally experienced this when he was a teenager, sitting in the kitchen, and having both of his parents walk up to him, and his mother informing him that she had cancer. Life for him changed forever. Though she had surgery to remove the cancer from her lungs, it came back and eventually had to remove a lung. Throughout the years, she was never the same. She passed away on July 4, 2003. Thinking of his mother, having a first-hand view of her pain, and the costs that affected his family, and knowing that many families feel this pain as well, inspired Trae to create a non-profit organization to help lung cancer patients and their families. The name Serving Tray was chosen to serve the people and like food, be able to carry support to help people. Serving Tray is not a research organization, but a people organization.
